Program features

Capability of processing raster image data

PlatinCnc gives you the freedom of generating NC-data from almost any source of layout. Some of the supported file formats are: bmp, tiff, png, gif, jpg.

Considering several tool diameters during milling path creation

PlatinCnc will use the engraving tools with the smallest diameter only at those regions where it is necessary. Many PCBs have a number of narrow gaps between conduction tracks, but the major rest can be isolated much cheaper and faster with larger engraving tools. PlatinCnc's built in algorithms inherently support this technique.

Rubout and blowup

For selected regions PlatinCnc can remove any surplus copper (rubout). Or you enlarge the isolation tracks (blowup), what makes manual soldering a lot easier.

Drill recognition

PlatinCnc can extract the drills of a PCB only from the source images! Additionally, there is an import filter for drills available.

Support for both sides of a workpiece plus contour milling

Special aligning functions in combination with the semi-transparent displaying enable a comfortable management of both sides of the working piece. You will be able to create one single CNC-program for the isolation-engraving, drilling and contour-milling of a doublesided PCB.

Flexible export facility

The export format is adjustable to multiple output devices, for example: G-Code, HPGL, DXF.

Other mentionable program features are:

  • Convenient graphical user interface
  • Detailled, context sensitive documentation including step-by-step examples
  • Full UNDO/REDO support
  • Import Postscript, eps or pdf via a built-in, comfortable interface to ghostscript
  • Import Drill data via a generic filter (e.g. S&M, Excellon, Gerber)
  • Editing capabilities for source images: Justify, denoise, mirror, floodfill, retouche,...
  • Manual editing of milling paths & drills is possible
  • Vectorization of milling paths into arc and line segments (emulating arcs by polylines is possible if output device isn't capable of arcs)
  • Path optimization significantly reduces milling time
  • Definition of machine properties: Output coordinate systems, allowed areas of operation,...
  • Definition of toolsets containing technology specific parameters: Milling depth, feedrate, revs/min,...
  • Saving of a project containing all relevant data at any stage of work
  • Easily apply alternative toolsets / machine definitions to an existing project
  • Support of different units (mm, mil, inch) in almost all dialogs
